The system behind the atlas

A digital atlas for your botanical collection

This site is not just a web page: it is the public interface of a scientific database. Behind it runs a simple, powerful system — you maintain the information once and everything else is generated automatically.

We developed and applied this system at the Arboretum of Estancia La Constancia, and it can be replicated for other botanical collections.

What it solves

Many gardens, nurseries and reserves have their information scattered across spreadsheets, folders and photos. This system unifies it into a single database and, from it, automatically generates:

Interactive map

Location of each specimen, trails and sectors.

Species profiles

One page per specimen, with no coding.

📖 Catalogue with filters

Search by family, origin and group.

Statistics

Recalculated automatically with every update.

🔗 QR labels

One code per tree that opens its profile.

🔄 Automatic publishing

You update the database and the site rebuilds itself.

Who it’s for

Botanical gardens, arboreta, nurseries, municipalities, nature reserves, universities and estates that want to document and showcase their natural heritage in a professional way, sustainable over time.

Why it works in the long run

  • Low maintenance: a single spreadsheet feeds the whole site.
  • No daily technical dependency: you don’t need a programmer to load data.
  • Scalable: it works the same for 50 or for 5,000 specimens.
  • Scientific and educational value: the database supports research, conservation and outreach.
