In the world’s great arboreta, volunteers are the heart of the project: they guide visits, care for the collections, record data, propagate species in the nursery and bring events to life. At the Arboretum of Estancia La Constancia we are building our volunteer program, and we invite you to be part of it from the start.
The program is taking its first steps. If you’re interested, leave us your details and we’ll get in touch to get to know you, tell you about the available tasks and find the best way for you to contribute together.
How you can help
Inspired by the volunteer programs of leading arboreta, these are the areas we are opening. For most, no prior experience is needed: we support and train you.
Guides and hosts
Welcome groups, accompany tours and share the story of the arboretum.
📋 Survey and data
Map specimens, fill in profiles, measure trees and record phenology (flowering, fruiting).
Birdwatching
Monitoring resident and migratory birds, and logging observations on citizen-science platforms.
🌱 Nursery and planting
Propagating species, sowing, planting and caring for the new collections.
Educational support
Assisting with school visits, workshops and activities for all ages.
📣 Events and outreach
Helping with events, social media, photography and communication of the project.
Who can join?
Volunteering is open to all ages and backgrounds: students looking for field experience, retirees with time and enthusiasm, nature lovers, teachers, photographers, bird enthusiasts… For many tasks no prior knowledge is required; what matters is commitment and a willingness to learn.

For most tasks, no. We support and train you according to the area you choose. If you already have experience (in botany, birds, education, communication), even better!
We arrange it around your availability. It can be a one-off day, help at an event, or a more regular involvement. We talk and find the format that suits you.
Volunteering is open to different ages. If you are a minor or would like to bring a group of young people, write to us and we’ll arrange the conditions for taking part.
